“The Chinese Lady,” a play staged in the Central Square Theatre in Cambridge in November 2022, tells the story of Afong Moy, one of the earliest known Chinese female immigrants to the United States.

The play, written by Lloyd Suh, has been staged in many cities across the United States and was performed at Central Square Theater in partnership with bilingual Boston theater company CHUANG Stage.

The following video story explores the plight of early Chinese immigrants and the issues faced today by people from the Asian diaspora in the United States.
